Rilke spent many holidays in Duino, Italy. He was a frequent guest of Princess Marie von Thurn und Taxis-Hohenlohe, who owned beautiful Duino Castle. It is a private castle but I had the fantastic opportunity to visit and tour the castle when it was open to the public. Near the castle is a breathtaking 2km path along the coast where Rilke frequently walked, aptly named “The Rilke Path.”
